ART CAREERS
In the fashion industry collaboration is essential for taking designs from ideas to finished products ready to market. Fashion designers and product developers are responsible for using analysis of current trends, their knowledge of design principles, and expertise in fabric and production techniques to create styles for a targeted market. Within this process, the production team is responsible for execution of design. They oversee all aspects of the actual creation of the fashion line. Bringing concepts to the consumers involves many people and is an integral part of designing and manufacturing the fashion products we purchase.
Student Engagement Tip: Have students find three to five examples of fashion choices. Ask, “What statement is being made?” and “How does it make you feel?” Remind them that we create an autobiography of ourselves through our clothing choices.
