One of our favorite prompts to give is “Kool-Aid Man smashing through a wall.” It is critical that this is done with no references. Students are great at anthropomorphizing glass pitchers, and the design challenge of showing a cinderblock wall exploding is always a visual treat. This prompt is particularly fun when students have a chance to trace actual bricks or cinderblocks.
