An art class based solely on the creation of a sketchbook art journal allowed students to be evaluated on the beauty of brainstorming, playing with media, exploring ideas visually, and personal reflection.

High-school students create an alter ego narrative presented in the form of an upcycled book. In the units that followed the alter-ego curriculum, students sought out themes, narratives, and meaning for the rest of the year.
